Will Peck’s research explores acts of creative misuse: rerouting, misdirecting and intervening in the programmed paths of everyday apparatus. He places scanners, computer mice, smartphones, fax paper, printers and robotic machines into unusual or unruly conditions, exposing them to heat, light, moisture, flora and fauna, or allowing normally suppressed behaviours to surface and shape the outcome. Through these experiments, he looks for alternative routes within technologies that already surround us, while testing the limits of their programmed behaviours and the role we take as their users.
