Time Capsule. Fossils of Future

Time Capsule. Fossils of Future is an interdisciplinary study that combines oceanography, linguistics and speculative fiction. Now that the progressive or dystopian fables about our common future have died out in the 20th century, we are forced to think and imagine the future in forms that have yet to be invented. And all this must happen in a post-Anthropocene world in which a new idea of nature is being formulated. The specific role of the artist in all this lies in the construction of new forms by exploring non-human life forms and other-than-human temporalities. With “Time Capsule,” I will navigate through temporal diversity as manifested in the evolving marine landscape. The project functions as a space for interaction, experimentation and provocation with the goal of developing tools for both navigating the profound shifts caused by drastic climate change and for imagining possible futures. Conceived as a more-than-human laboratory, the works created within the project aim to deliver sensations of a world that escapes our time horizon.
